Amish Butter Cookies

Amish butter cookies, also known as Amish sugar cookies, are a buttery, sweet treat. They are perfect for after-school or any holiday.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350-degrees.
  • Add the softened butter to a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the granulated and powdered sugar to the bowl and cream together with the butter.
  • Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla and mix.
  • Sift the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt together.
  • Add the flour mixture a little bit at a time to the butter mixture. Mix until well blended.
  • Scoop out onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden.
