  • 1 stick of butter or whatever amount you need

  • Place the butter in a skillet on medium heat.
  • Cook the butter, stirring often until there are brown specks that begin to float up through the foam.
  • Remove from the heat and pour into a heat-safe container and use in your recipe.

Notes

The butter will go through several stages, including foaming up, bubbling, and separating.
Once you see the brown specks start to bubble up, it is done cooking.
Be sure to stay with the butter the entire time as it will burn fast.
